Kate, Pippa Middleton enjoy Federer-Murray - Sports News from USA ...

Kate and Pippa Middleton brought some star power to the royal box at Wimbledon for Sunday’s men’s final.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 30, and her younger sister, Pippa, 28, came to see if native son Andy Murray could end Great Britain’s long drought at tennis’ oldest major. The last time a Briton won the men’s singles title at Wimbledon was Fred Perry in 1936.

The sisters, who are big tennis fans and also players, clapped enthusiastically as Murray took the first set from Federer, a six-time Wimbledon champion.

The Royal family has made their presence felt at this year’s tournament. Kate enjoyed the men’s quarterfinals with husband Prince William on July 4, while Pippa has been a regular at Wimbledon. But perhaps the biggest royal surprise occurred in the first week when Prince Charles visited the tournament for the first time since 1970.

Kate and Pippa Middleton weren’t the only stars sitting in the royal box for Sunday’s historic match. People magazine reports that David Beckham and his wife Victoria also enjoyed the choice seats. Kate reportedly stopped to chat with the soccer star and the former Spice Girl before taking her seat.
